Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Glasgow Rangers could reportedly still hijack a deal to sign winger Denis Bouanga.
The Lowdown: ‘Advanced talks’
MLS club LAFC are reportedly now in ‘advanced talks‘ to sign Bouanga, with Ligue 1 side Lille also trying to hijack a deal.
The Gers meanwhile have been linked with a move for the Saint-Etienne ace, and so could still look to hijack the deal themselves in what looks set to be an intriguing transfer battle over the coming days and weeks.
The Latest: Gers approach
As per Le 10 Sport, an approach has been made by the Ibrox outfit for Bouanga, a versatile attacker who can play on both flanks.
However, Belgium clubs Anderlecht and Club Brugge have also made their own moves, and Saint-Etienne hope to get as much as €5m (£4.2m) for the Gabon international.
The French club could yet see a major bidding war erupt given all the interest from various suitors.
The Verdict: Act fast
With it looking like LAFC are closing in on signing Bouanga, the Light Blues need to act fast if they are going to hijack the deal.
We have already seen notable successful attempts to hijack moves by other clubs in this transfer window, for example FC Barcelona pinching Raphinha and Jules Kounde under the noses of Chelsea.
Should Rangers sign Bouanga?
Bouanga has a total of 81 goals for club and country combined throughout his career, including nine in Ligue 1 last season (Transfermarkt), and at 27 years of age, is a player about to enter his prime.
Nonetheless, the Teddy Bears would be signing him at the perfect time, should they be able to wrestle him away from LAFC.
