Rangers: Alan Hutton says Scott Wright ‘needs to do more’

Rangers: Alan Hutton says Scott Wright 'needs to do more' - Rangers News

Former Glasgow Rangers defender says that Scott Wright ‘needs to do more’, and there is a ‘question mark’ over him and his future at Ibrox.

The Lowdown: Beale willing to sell

It has been reported that Michael Beale is ‘willing’ to let go of Wright in the summer, and Rangers will listen to offers for the winger.

They want to overhaul their attack for the next campaign, and Wright is apparently one of the names who could make way.

The Latest: Hutton questions Wright

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton claims that Wright ‘needs to do more’ in a Light Blues shirt, and it would not surprise him to see Beale looking at other attacking options this summer:

I think there is definitely a question mark over him.

He has been used a lot as an impact sub and at times he has done well. I think he needs to do more. He has got the ability but he needs to do it on a consisted basis.

So it would not surprise me if the manager is looking at different options. He will want to put his own stamp on the team as well.

There is going to be a big turnaround I think. The summer is massive for Rangers with some of the boys that are out of contract, the likes of Allan McGregor potentially retiring. There is a big recruitment drive coming up.

The Verdict: Sell…

Wright will only have two years left on his current deal at Ibrox come the end of the season, and so the summer is an optimum time to sell, in order to get maximum value out of him.

The Scotsman has been limited to just eight starts in total over all competitions so far this season, with only five of those coming in the Scottish Premiership, while he has recorded no goals and only two assists (Transfermarkt).

At 25 years of age, the Gers should be expecting better from him, and so it is best for all parties if he finds a new club this summer that can also offer him more regular game time.
