The Rangers Review journalist Joshua Barrie has shared an injury update on Glasgow Rangers central midfielder James Sands ahead of the weekend.

The Lowdown: Off injured...

Sands came off at half-time in the Gers' 1-0 win against Hearts at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night because of injury.

He was replaced by Scott Arfield, causing doubts over whether he would be fine for this weekend's clash away at St. Mirren.

The Latest: Should be fine

Taking to Twitter, Barrie shared an update on Sands from Giovanni van Bronckhorst's post-match press conference, as the Dutch manager 'hopes' that he will be fine despite picking up a 'knock' against Hearts:

"James Sands has a knock but the manager hopes he will be ok for Saturday."

The Verdict: Relief

Van Bronckhorst and his team will be mighty relieved that Sands' injury was not anything serious, and that he should be able to feature against St. Mirren at the weekend.

The Light Blues already have as many as 10 injuries in their first-team squad at the moment, and losing Sands as well would have certainly not been ideal.

He has featured in their last seven matches in all competitions, playing the full game in four of those per Transfermarkt, so has established himself as a key player in the side.

Nonetheless, given that he has not been picked by the USA national team for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Sands can fully concentrate on putting a good performance in against St. Mirren, should he be deemed fit.
