Glasgow Rangers insider The 4th Official has revealed that the Ibrox club are in talks to sign Nicolas Raskin for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Lowdown: Expected to negotiate

The 4th Official reported earlier this week that the Premiership giants were expected to negotiate with Standard Liege for the 21-year-old, who they value at €5.5m (£4.6m).

It now seems that they have officially opened talks with the Belgian club, with the view of getting a deal over the line before the transfer window closes.

The Latest: Rangers in talks

Taking to Twitter on Saturday night, The 4th Official - who was the first outlet to break the news of Van Bronckhorst’s appointment as Light Blues manager last November - has revealed that there are now 'talks going on' between both clubs over Raskin, with Rangers expecting Liege to 'lower' their expectations.

The Ibrox insider tweeted: "Nicolas Raskin talks going on with Rangers expecting Standard Liege to lower expectations given the dynamics in play."

The Verdict: Exciting

It is certainly exciting for Rangers supporters to see their club in talks to sign a player of Raskin's quality so late in the transfer window.

Dubbed ‘incredible‘ by journalist Stephan Streker, he has already made 84 senior appearances for both Gent and Liege at the tender age of just 21, scoring four goals and supplying a further ten assists (Transfermarkt).

Raskin has also been capped by Belgium right through to under-21 level, and he will be looking to catch the eye ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
