Rangers: Jordan Campbell shares Ryan Kent injury boost -Rangers News

The Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell has shared an injury boost for Glasgow Rangers ahead of the second leg of their Champions League third round qualifier on Tuesday night.

The Lowdown: Big performance needed

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team will to need to put in a big performance at Ibrox if they are going to overturn their deficit from the first leg.

They trail Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 and are in serious danger of missing out on Champions League group stage football for a second successive season, having been eliminated by Malmo this time last year.

The Latest: Kent injury update

Taking to Twitter, Campbell shared an update from Van Bronckhorst on the fitness of Ryan Kent, with the Rangers boss saying that he is ‘hopeful’ that the winger will be available on Tuesday night.

The reporter tweeted: “Van Bronckhorst says they’re working hard to get Ryan Kent fit for Tuesday. He’s “hopeful” he’ll be available.”

The Verdict: Boost for Rangers

It would certainly be a boost to have Kent available for the match on Tuesday, given that he could not play in the first leg and also missed Saturday’s 2-0 win at home to Kilmarnock in the Premiership (Transfermarkt).

In Europe last season, the 25-year-old was the Gers’ second-best performer, racking up one goal and three assists, while he also ranked highly in terms of average shots, key passes and dribbles per game (WhoScored).

Those figures show that Kent is a player for the big stage, and the Light Blues may need him at his best if they are to turn the tie around on Tuesday night.
