Rumours around Alfredo Morelos’ future at Glasgow Rangers continue to abound and it looks like Steven Gerrard will have to make plans for the 2020/21 campaign which don’t involve the forward.
He would be rather difficult to replace, having scored 77 goals in 137 appearances for the club, so his successor would need to be found quickly and astutely.
“You’re not going to get £15m or £20m, so anything between £8m and £12m you’ve got to take it and move on. Sometimes you’ve just got to swallow a bit of it,or bite the bullet and go with him again. He scores goals but it’s the other side of his game you worry about.”
The 24-year-old, who is valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, joined the club from HJK Helsinki for only £1.08m. If the ‘Gers allow him to leave, they will need to already have one if not two replacements ready so that they can quickly carry on without Morelos’ potential departure leaving them light in attack.
Adam is justifiably worried about the Colombian’s discipline, as the forward has been sent off seven times during his career in Scotland, a record which has seen him admonished by Gerrard in the past.
It looks like Morelos wants to leave as he has agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Lille, so there is no point trying to keep him if he is desperate to go. However, the ‘Gers need to make sure they get a fair price for him so that they can strengthen and not fall further behind in the race to win back the Premiership title.
