Edinburgh News reported that the 25-year-old is set to return to the country of his birth after agreeing a deal to join St Gallen from the Easter Road outfit. He did not feature in pre-season for Jack Ross’ team, instead being given permission to return to Switzerland to consider his future.
According to Edinburgh News, the ‘Gers had proposed another season-long loan move for Kamberi for this term, with Greg Docherty going in the opposite direction, but the striker insisted that he wanted to leave Hibs permanently.
The 25-year-old only made nine appearances during his loan spell at Ibrox, one which was cut short by the premature end to the Scottish season amid the global pandemic. However, he still managed just a solitary goal in those nine games for Steven Gerrard’s side.
Would you like to have had Florian Kamberi back at Ibrox?
These ‘Gers fans on Twitter had mixed views on Kamberi’s imminent move to St Gallen – some believe that he could have been a good option to have at Ibrox, whereas others felt that he wasn’t up to standard:
Liked him. Shame. We must have better than him lined up

That’s a wee blow. He would’ve done ok as a back up

Looked decent with a bit of skill and pace too. Funny how the media don’t ask SG about him. 😏

He’s not good enough for rangers anyway.

Didn’t want him anyway
