According to Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, Leeds United have had a bid of €9m (£8m) for Glasgow Rangers left-back Borna Barisic rejected.
They are said to have made an offer of €9m (£8m), but the Ibrox outfit turned it down.
A number of Gers players have been linked with an exit this summer – Alfredo Morelos’ days at the club appear to be numbered, with him already having agreed personal terms with Lille, whilst Leeds have also had a bid of £10m rejected for Ryan Kent.
Both of these players would represent a huge loss, but Barisic’s departure would be arguably be more harshly felt. Last season, he was a force to be reckoned with, managing 14 assists in all competitions despite being a defender by trade, and he has continued that form into this current campaign, with him creating three strikes and scoring once himself in the first six matches. Not only that, the 54-time Scottish champions have not yet conceded a single goal in the Premiership – Barisic is obviously a huge part of the side.
Is Barisic Rangers' best player?
Currently valued at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, €9m (£8m) would represent a rather large fee. However, given the Gers are looking for a first major trophy since 2011, Barisic is priceless to Steven Gerrard this term. He must do all he can to keep the Croatia international at the club.
