Bongani Zungu is closing in on a move to Glasgow Rangers, with a fee set to be agreed, as per a report from Kick Off,
The Gers appeared to be previously close to completing a move to bring the player Ibrox, but that seemed to fall through as the 54-time Scottish champions were worried about him returning to pre-season training overweight.
However, with the window set to slam shut, it now seems the Gers are set to complete a move for the South African international, despite those previous doubts.
Gerrard has said that he wants to bring in another midfielder, and it looks he may finally be about to get his man. Zungu comes in with a certain amount of pedigree, having made 52 appearances in Ligue 1 and with 24 caps for Bafana Bafana to his name, and the Gers will be hoping that he can have a positive impact on the side.
Would you like to sign Bongani Zungu?
It has been said that the Gers could do with a more creative player – club legend Brian Laudrup certainly seems to believe so – but £1.44m-valued Zungu (as per Transfermarkt) doesn’t really fit that bill, with him only having 14 career goals and nine career assists to his name. Still, the Gers are currently top of the Premiership, having failed to win just two matches – they maybe do not need more vision if they continue to play like this.
