Glasgow Rangers will be using the transfer window to bring in some players to improve their squad at Ibrox, but it seems they are also looking towards the future as they have been linked with a promising academy star.
According to The Daily Mail, the Gers are interested in Manchester City starlet Charlie McNeill, but they are not the only club keen to sign the player as Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and Premier League giants Manchester United are in the race, whilst Juventus have monitored the player.
City were trying to keep McNeil, but talks have broken down as the player had concerns about his career at the Etihad. The Gers are set to have the discussions this weekend with the centre-forward.
It is good that Steven Gerrard is looking towards the future, and with sides like Manchester United and Leipzig interested in the striker, it highlights the potential that he has.
What also highlights his potential is the fact that the Daily Mail also report that he has around 600 goals over the past six years whilst playing at youth level.
No matter what level you play at, to score this many goals is astonishing and highlights how prolific McNeill is and if he continues this way, there is no doubt that he can set the senior football world alight. For these reasons, supporters of the Glasgow Rangers should be excited by this news and Gerrard should definitely look to beat the other teams interested to the signing.
