Glasgow Rangers: Club start discussions with Bordeaux over Josh Maja

Glasgow Rangers star Alfredo Morelos is reportedly on his way to Lille as personal terms have been agreed, and the club will need to act fast to find a possible replacement. Steven Gerrard is clearly looking into this and one forward already linked is Josh Maja.
According to Get French Football News, the Gers will start talks with Bordeaux for striker Maja next week. No offer has been made yet but it seems like the Scottish side are very keen to sign him.
As it stands there are no reports regarding what kind of fee would be involved, but with a market value of £5.47m he is unlikely to come cheap.
The former Sunderland man is only 21, per Transfermarkt, but is showing glimpses that he can perform in a top league as he has managed nine goals in 31 appearances for the French side.
He is seen as more of a substitute at the moment as he has only started eight times, per WhoScored, so to be still picking up goals does highlight the potential he has.
However if he is seen as a replacement for Morelos then the club will probably need another striker alongside him as it is going to be very hard to replace the Colombian who has scored 77 times in 137 appearances, per Transfermarkt.
Would Maja be a good signing?
Yes

No

The Nigerian striker would be a very good addition for the Scottish side, who have made it clear they want multiple signings up front, in the long-term. But he cannot be seen as the ideal replacement for Morelos for next season as he hasn’t been a regular starter and isn’t as prolific as the ex-HJK Helsinki man just yet.
