According to The Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers are not interested in signing Maccabi Tel Aviv man Dan Glazer, despite reports to the contrary.
The Gers had been linked with a move for the Israel international, along with a number of Championship clubs.
However, this latest report has moved to quash those claims, saying that there is no interest in the £1.44m-valued 23-year-old – as per Transfermarkt – and that it is not clear whether Steven Gerrard wants to add another midfielder to his squad this summer.
It is surprising that The Sun would say that it is not known as to whether Gerrard wants to sign another midfielder this summer – he has already said that this is something he would like to do. However, there have been calls from some quarters – such as from Gers legend Brian Laudrup – that the Ibrox outfit mainly need more creativity in their squad.
Would you like to sign Dan Glazer?
That is something that Glazer cannot really bring to the table. He has managed just one goal and five assists in 79 matches for Maccabi, and it is quite clear that his qualities lie more on the defensive side of things rather than going forward. With Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara usually filling the deeper midfield roles, and with Steven Davis and Scott Arfield to fall back on, Glazer’s arrival would not really make much sense.
As such, the Gers should certainly be looking elsewhere for someone to solve their midfield issues.
