According to The Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers could miss out on the signing of Florian Kamberi as St. Gallen have opened talks to sign the striker.
However, the Gers’ lack of concrete movement may have hampered their chances as it now appears that St. Gallen are leading the race for the 25-year-old.
It appears that Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson have spent too long pondering and have failed to take the necessary action to guarantee that Kamberi would move to Glasgow rather than elsewhere. St. Gallen are in a very good position, as well, as they lead the Swiss Super League and are closing in on Champions League qualification.
Again, though, the Gers’ lack of movement may be because they are not too keen on actually adding him to the squad. After all, he managed to hit the back of the net on just one occasion during the short-term spell away from Hibs, and if Gerrard and co really are eager to win a first piece of silverware since 2011 next term, they will likely need to bring in someone who is more prolific in front of goal.
Would you like to sign Kamberi permanently?
Currently valued at £540,000 by Transfermarkt, it is not as though he would break the bank should the Gers make a real approach. As such, St. Gallen may have a clear run at the forward.
