With the transfer window open, many have been discussing what players would be good for Glasgow Rangers to sign to improve the quality of their squad. Kris Commons believes one player who should be on the radar of the Gers and Old Firm rivals Celtic is Martin Boyle.

Commons, who won the SPFL title five times whilst also making 12 appearances for Scotland, scoring two goals, per Transfermarkt, believes that Hibernian winger Boyle would be a great acquisition and also believes the Gers might be able to get him on a cheap deal.

Speaking in The Daily Mail, via Glasgow Live, Commons said: "Having played with Martin Boyle for a few months during my time at Hibs, I can vouch first-hand about just what a talented boy he is. My advice to Hibs fans would be quite simple. Enjoy him while you can. Given that he’s only got a year left to run on his contract, bigger clubs are bound to be looking at him.

"I know for a fact that Neil Lennon rates him highly and thoroughly enjoyed working with him during their time together at Easter Road. I also don’t see why the likes of Rangers shouldn’t at least have a look at him and explore the possibility of making an offer.

"With just a year left on his contract, Boyle wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Especially not with the financial problems Hibs are facing. He could be available at a knockdown price. I reckon a bid of around £250k would be enough to at least ask the question of Hibs."

It's hard to disagree with the Scotsman on how cheap the Gers could get the player, he is valued at £900,000 on Transfermarkt, but this price could definitely be lowered as he is on the last year of his contract.

The attacker also has a very good record at Hibs, as he has scored 36 goals and picked up 36 assists in 189 appearances for the Scottish side and at the age of 27, he still has many seasons in which he can improve and score even more in Scotland, per Transfermarkt. Including his goals at Hibs, he has managed 78 goals and 61 assists in 341 appearances.

Glasgow Rangers need to add to their attack, Jermain Defoe, who is 37, will not be around for long and also has an injury at the moment, Alfredo Morelos supposedly will be on his way to Ligue 1 soon, whilst the club are looking to sell winger Jordan Jones, so Boyle would be a good addition.

The attacker can play across the front three, and also had made appearances in friendlies and a World Cup qualifier for Australia, scoring two and assisting one, per Transfermarkt.

All this, combined with the fact that he is a proven SPFL player highlights that he would be a very good signing for the Gers if they looked to acquire him.
