According to The Sun, Leeds United would still like to sign Glasgow Rangers’ Ryan Kent – but only if they fail in their pursuit of Manchester United winger Daniel James.
The Whites have already been heavily linked with a move for the Gers star, with them even having a bid of £10m rejected, but they have now moved on to Wales international James.
The Red Devils will reportedly only move on the former Swansea City man, who they signed for £15m just last summer, if they can bring in Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. If that does not materialise, Leeds will instead return for Kent.
Kent has had a fantastic start to the new campaign, scoring five goals and providing five assists in just 10 matches, whilst he has also been tipped for an England call-up by Steven Gerrard’s assistant manager Gary McAllister. It is no surprise that Leeds would like to take him to Elland Road.
Will Ryan Kent still be at Glasgow Rangers at the end of the transfer window?
From a Gers perspective, losing Kent would be a massive blow, and with them looking for a first piece of major silverware since 2011 this season, his potential departure could well derail their title challenge. Even if another bid is made for the 23-year-old, the 54-time Scottish champions would likely hold firm, but their lives would be made an awful lot easier if Marcelo Bielsa can convince the Old Trafford outfit to part ways with James.
