Glasgow Rangers may have received a boost to their hopes of holding on to Alfredo Morelos as OwnGoalNigeria report that Lille have made another bid for Umar Sadiq.
The Colombia international has been continually linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, and it appeared Les Dogues were in prime position after it was reported that the 24-year-old and the Ligue 1 club had agreed personal terms.
However, with the Gers said to be holding out for £20m, it appears Lille may now look for an alternative, and they are said to have made a second offer for Sadiq, who spent time on loan with the Gers in the past. Partizan Belgrade are holding out for €15m (£13.5m), it is believed.
Despite all the distractions and the speculation surrounding his future, Morelos continues to be lethal in front of goal for Steven Gerrard’s side as he showed with his brace against St. Mirren on Sunday. Even with the additions of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, losing Morelos would leave a big hole up front for the 54-time Scottish champions.
Gers fans may be surprised by the fact that Sadiq is attracting such interest given his poor spell at Ibrox – he failed to scored in four matches – but he appears to have settled well in Serbia. He managed 17 goals and 17 assists last term, and scored twice against Javor this past weekend as well.
Will Morelos still be at Rangers by the end of the transfer window?
Should Lille sign Sadiq, and with Jonathan David also close to completing a move there as well, Morelos may no longer be needed – that would surely mean there would be a stronger chance of him staying with his current employers.
