As per The Daily Mail, Glasgow Rangers are interested in signing Dejan Ljubicic from Rapid Vienna.
The Gers are said to be interested in the 22-year-old, for whom the Austrian outfit want £2m.
However, they are not the only side eyeing the defensive midfielder, with Celtic, Brentford and Southampton also mentioned.
Ljubicic has been a regular this term for Rapid in the Austrian Bundesliga, appearing in 22 matches in the competition – he scored twice and made one assist in the process as well. In the past, Ljubicic has actually been a nemesis for the Gers – he scored the winner in a 1-0 victory for Vienna against the 54-time Scottish champions during the 2018/19 Europa League group stage.
He looks to be an interesting player, and the interest indicates that he has plenty of quality, but the question is, where would he fit into Steven Gerrard’s starting XI? Glen Kamara is the current defensive midfielder and has done little to indicate that he deserves to be replaced, whilst Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack and Steven Davis are all available to the former Liverpool midfielder as well.
Would you like to sign Ljubicic?
For £2m though, he could well be a bargain, with a strong re-sale value at the age of 22. It is up to Gerrard to see whether he wants to add him to his squad.
