According to The Daily Record, Glasgow Rangers are in an 11-way race to sign Lyle Taylor.

The Gers have been linked with a move for Taylor, who recently refused to end the campaign with Charlton Athletic in fear of picking up a career-threatening injury.

Now, it is being reported that no less than 11 sides are interested in the 30-year-old. Those mentioned in the article are Burnley, Nottingham Forest, West Brom, Swansea, Galatasaray and Sivasspor.

It does not come as too much of a surprise that there is so much competition for the £1.26m-valued Montserrat international's signature (as per Transfermarkt) - his form in recent years has been impressive. He bagged 36 goals in 67 games for the Addicks, including 11 in 22 Championship matches this term despite the London-based outfit struggling at the wrong end of the table.

That kind of talent would usually demand a decent fee, so the fact he is available on a free has led to a whole host of clubs sniffing around - the Gers, though, are still in with a chance of signing him. They are a very prestigious side, with 54 league titles to their name, and there is at least a challenge for them north of the border - toppling their fierce rivals Celtic.

The number of clubs in pursuit makes Steven Gerrard's and Ross Wilson's jobs harder, but far from impossible.
