As per The Scottish Sun, several English clubs are eyeing highly-rated Glasgow Rangers youngster Cole McKinnon.
The 17-year-old has already played for Graeme Murty’s development side, but he has just one year left on his contract at Ibrox.
A number of sides are said to be interested, including Aston Villa and Everton.
Of course, McKinnon is unlikely to feature for Steven Gerrard’s first team any time soon, but he is certainly one for the future. Even at the age of 17, as mentioned before, he has appeared in the UEFA Youth League, and already has four Scotland caps at U16 level.
The Gers have made three senior signings in Ianis Hagi, Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey, but both Charlie Lindsay and James Graham are 16 and have also made the move to the 54-time Scottish champions this summer. Whilst the club’s main goal is to claim a first piece of silverware since 2011 this campaign, ideally the Scottish Premiership, there also appears to be a distinct plan for the future.
Will Cole McKinnon leave the club this summer?
That plan would be damaged if McKinnon is allowed to leave the club at this stage in his career. The Gers have put in the work in developing him, and would like to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Now, Ross Wilson must hope he can do enough to convince him to stay at the club.
