As per De Telegraaf, Glasgow Rangers have missed out on the signing of Guus Til.
The Dutch outlet claimed that the Gers had been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, who currently plays his football for Spartak Moscow.
However, it appears that Bundesliga side Freiburg are set to secure his services, with him close to signing a two-year loan deal with the German outfit.
Whilst it may not have really been realistic for the Gers to sign the attacking midfielder, they will be disappointed that they were unable to take him to Ibrox. Currently valued at £7.65m by Transfermarkt, Til was fantastic for his previous club AZ Alkmaar, scoring 28 goals in 96 games despite being a midfielder.
Since making the £14.4m switch to Russia, he has failed to hit the same heights, scoring just twice in 24 matches, but he is already a Netherlands international and, at 22, he has plenty of time to rediscover the form that saw him make that previous eight-figure transfer.
Would you liked to have signed Guus Til?
Gers legend Brian Laudrup has been calling out for more creativity and spark in the 54-time Scottish champions’ squad, and Til could have been the man to provide it. Now, Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson must look elsewhere between now and the end of the transfer window.
