Terem Moffi has delivered a blow to Glasgow Rangers by telling Het Laatste Nieuws (via The Daily Record) that he would rather move to Spain or France, which would appear to pour cold water on the possibility of a switch to Ibrox.
The Gers have been linked with the 21-year-old recently, and he has impressed across spells with FK Riteriai and KV Kortrijk in 2020 – he has managed 10 goals in 14 matches. ScoreNigeria reported the club’s interest last week, and also mentioned that the likes of Anderlecht, St. Etienne, Stade Reims and Galatasaray were all also in pursuit.
However, Moffi has appeared to make his destination clear, saying:
“I could have gone to Sweden, Norway or Israel.
“But I chose Belgium, because this way I can get to the big leagues more quickly.
“Where would I like to go? France or Spain, we’ll see…”
Moffi may not be a household name across Europe, but his performances in Belgium and Lithuania this year indicate that he could be a real bargain for whoever can convince him to sign. He is currently valued by Transfermarkt at £1.17m, whilst ScoreNigeria says he is worth €1.3m (£1.2m).
Would you like to sign Moffi?
They do also mention that a “crazy” offer would be needed to convince Kortrijk to part ways with the Nigerian, so it is not 100% clear what kind of bid they are looking for. Still, it is hard to imagine him being too expensive, so the fact he has already made his preferred destination clear is not good news for the Gers.
