As per The Scottish Sun, Alfredo Morelos was left out of the Glasgow Rangers squad for their match against Kilmarnock after he had demanded to leave the club beforehand.
Morelos continues to be linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, with it even being reported that he has agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Lille.
The Gers are now planning to re-enter into talks with the French side after the Colombia international made it clear that he wants to leave the 54-time Scottish champions.
It was a big call from Steven Gerrard to leave the 24-year-old out of the squad altogether against Killie – after all, following 79 goals in 142 matches for the club since signing for £1.08m in 2017, he is by far the Gers’ most dangerous attacking option, and not using him could have easily backfired.
In the end though, it paid off, with the Gers winning 2-0 as new signing Kemar Roofe got his first goal for the club. The 27-year-old striker is one of two new attacking options for Gerrard along with Cedric Itten – the Gers are already set up if Morelos does complete a move away.
Will Morelos still be at Rangers by the end of the transfer window?
At the end of the day, no matter how good Morelos is, he is no use to anyone if he does not want to be at Ibrox, and he could end up being more of a hindrance than anything else. As such, the Gers should look to move him on as soon as possible.
