According to Foot Mercato, Stade Rennais are preparing a €15m (£13.7m) offer for Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
The report says that the French outfit have had their eye on the Colombia international for the last two years.
At this point, they are said to be ‘seduced‘ by the 24-year-old and they are preparing an offer of €15m (£13.7m) for his services.
Of course, given his record since making the switch to Glasgow Rangers for £1.08m in 2017, Morelos would leave a big hole up front for Steven Gerrard if he were to depart this summer. He has managed 77 goals in 137 matches, including 29 in the 2019/20 campaign, and he has been a constant focal point in attack for his side.
Will Morelos be at Rangers next season?
On the other hand, he has a questionable disciplinary record in Scotland, with seven red cards to his name, whilst he has failed to score a single goal against Celtic since joining. An influx of £13.7m would see the ‘Gers make a 1269% profit on one of their star players – money they could immediately reinvest in a number of positions.
He would need to be replaced, of course, but that fee would give Gerrard and Ross Wilson so many opportunities. Perhaps letting him depart wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
