According to Alfredo Morelos’ agent Miki Bourari, Napoli’s potential capture of Victor Osimhen would mean they would drop their interest in the Glasgow Rangers striker.
Osimhen has been linked with a move to the Serie A outfit, with ESPN reporting that a €70m (£63.1m) deal may even be close for the 21-year-old.
As Bourari told CalcioNews24, if the Nigerian makes the switch to the Stadio San Paolo, they would therefore drop all interest in Steven Gerrard’s star man.
Currently valued at £24.3m by Transfermarkt, Osimhen was in fantastic form for Lille before the French season was prematurely brought to a close – he netted 18 goals in 38 games for Les Dogues. As such, you can fully understand why Gennaro Gattuso would want to add him to his squad.
Will Morelos be at Rangers next season?
His signing wouldn’t just be great news for the former Gers midfielder, who left for £4.18m in 1998, though – it would also provide a boost for current Gers boss Steven Gerrard. Morelos is such an important part of the 40-year-old’s side, and his agent also stated that he would prefer a move to Italy – this would mean that one less top side would be able to sign him. Of course, there are plenty of other teams who probably have an eye on him, but at the very top, where Morelos may well be looking to go, there aren’t a whole bunch of sides who look to be in the market for a centre-forward.
Still, Morelos’ future is far from certain – don’t expect the speculation to stop any time soon.
