Glasgow Rangers have received a blow in their chase to sign winger Martin Boyle, with Hibernian agreeing a new deal with the Australian that will run until the summer of 2023.
However, it seems the 54-time Scottish champions have failed in their pursuit, with Hibs convincing him to commit his future to Easter Road.
Australia international Boyle is certainly an eye-catching player in the Premiership – he is regularly involved in the Edinburgh outfit’s goals, providing 36 assists and scoring as many himself in 193 matches for the club. He also has two goals in three caps for the Socceroos – the Gers could certainly do a lot worse than the 27-year-old.
Could Boyle replace Kent?
Whilst the Gers would have targeted him on a free transfer, he is currently only valued at £900,000 by Transfermarkt – that is a fee that would surely not break the bank for Ross Wilson and co. A new contract does not mean that a player will not depart soon after – keep an eye on this one.
