According to Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers are set to enter into preliminary talks with Peterborough striker Ivan Toney.
The Gers have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old for whom Posh reportedly want £8m, £5m of which should be a straight-up payment.
Now, it is being said that the Ibrox outfit are ready to ramp up their pursuit, and are set to enter into talks with the striker.
The rumours surrounding Toney’s future continue, and it is not hard to see him on the move this summer as his current employers struggle to hold on to their prize asset who scored 24 goals in League One last term. However, the question is whether the 54-time Scottish champions can convince him that the blue side of Glasgow is the best place for him to take the next step in his career.
Would you like to sign Ivan Toney?
With the likes of Brentford and West Brom in pursuit, as well as Celtic, there is plenty of interest in the former Newcastle man – it is now time for Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson to make their move if they really want to take him north of the border. Therefore, their plan to talk to Toney, who has 97 goals throughout his career, can only be viewed as a step in the right direction.
