According to The Daily Record, Glasgow Rangers are interested in taking Jacob Murphy to Ibrox.
Murphy’s current employers, Newcastle, are said to be open to offers for the 25-year-old.
As such, he has attracted the interest of the Gers, and he is on a list of potential targets for the Ibrox outfit – although a deal is believed to be some way off.
The Toon paid £12m to sign the former Norwich City man in 2017, but his time at St. James’ Park has been anything but impressive. In 41 matches for the north-east outfit, he has scored just one goal, and has managed to create just three more.
Whilst on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last term, he did manage nine goals and six assists in 44 matches, but it was still far from ground-breaking. Of course, he would not cost the same price as what Newcastle previously paid for him, and he does have just one year left on his contract, but he still has a Transfermarkt value of £3.15m. As such, his signature may still demand a seven-figure transfer fee and, considering the Gers have already signed the likes of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten recently, they need to make sure that their next signing is the right one.

This really is a deal Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson should look to avoid.
