Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been heavily linked with Ligue 1 side Lille in this transfer window, but the speculation had died down. However, recent reports suggest that Lille might be looking to attempt another move for the player.
Despite the Ligue 1 club signing Jonathan David, it looks like they are still keen on further enhancing their attacking options, and their offer has not yet been rejected by the ‘Gers.
Morelos had reportedly agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 side before seeing a previous bid rejected and could now move on before the end of the transfer window.
There is no denying the impact that the 24 year-old has had since joining the ‘Gers as he has managed to score 82 goals whilst also supplying 31 assists in 145 appearances for the club, per Transfermarkt. He has started this season brightly as well as he has played seven times in all competitions and picked up two assists and five goals.
Given his importance at Ibrox, the ‘Gers could either hold out for a bigger bid or keep him at the club as he could be very difficult for Steven Gerrard to replace, especially with the Scottish transfer window closing in the next two weeks.
It depends on whether the ‘Gers feel like they can find a good replacement, but with Jermain Defoe 37, and Kemar Roofe injured, the club only have new signing Cedric Itten, who has yet to score in his five appearances, and Greg Stewart, who has only managed three goals for the club in 28 appearances, so it would be a huge risk to let Morelos go if they want to battle for the Premiership title.
