According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Glasgow Rangers are in advanced talks to sign Jack Wilshere on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old recently ended his contract by mutual agreement with West Ham United and is now available as a free agent.
It seems that Steven Gerrard would like to take the former England international to Ibrox, and it appears that the 54-time Scottish champions may not be too far from doing just that. The discussions are now believed to be at an advanced stage.
This would be a sensational transfer if Rangers can get it over the line. Wilshere has struggled with injuries throughout his career, and in more recent times he has had problems even making it on to the pitch – he has made just 18 appearances over the last two full campaigns – but at his best, he is a truly talented footballer. You don’t play 198 games for Arsenal if you can’t play a bit!
Rangers’ next game is against Cetlic and if these talks go well, Wilshere could well make his debut in one of the biggest games in world football.
Would you like to sign Jack Wilshere?
Xavi once said the midfielder was “the future of English football” – praise doesn’t get much higher than that. Wilshere was on £100,000 a week at the London Stadium, a sum the Gers could surely not even begin to pay, so there would need to be some najor compromise in terms of wages but if an agreement can be reached, this would be a next-to-no risk deal for Ross Wilson and co.
