Rangers: Gers target Alfie Doughty

According to The Athletic, Glasgow Rangers are interested in signing Charlton Athletic’s Alfie Doughty, but face a battle from their Old Firm rivals.
Gers eye Doughty
Doughty is a midfielder or winger who was in good form at the start of the season prior to a hamstring injury, scoring once and providing two assists in seven matches in League One.
His performances have attracted the attention not just of the Gers, but also from their fierce Glasgow rivals Celtic. Premier League side Fulham have been mentioned as a potential suitor as well.
Interesting option
Doughty could well be available on a bargain deal – his current contract runs out at the end of this campaign, meaning that he could potentially even be signed on a free transfer. Were he to sign, he could well follow in the footsteps of Joe Aribo, who made the move to Ibrox from the Addicks at the start of last season and has mostly impressed fans in the blue half of Glasgow.
Would you like to sign Alfie Doughty?
Yes

No

Such is Doughty’s pace, he has previously been compared to Gareth Bale – very high praise indeed. Of course, he is a number of levels below the Wales international, but pace is one thing that is hard to teach. If he can hone his other skills around that particular quality in the way Bale has, he could be a very interesting option for the 54-time Scottish champions.
In other news, Noel Whelan is concerned by this injury set-back.
