Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade has revealed Glasgow Rangers have rejected an €8m (£6.9m) bid from Cagliari for Alfredo Morelos.

The Lowdown: Morelos could leave

Morelos has once again been linked with the exit door last summer after Lille were heavily linked with a move for him 12 months ago (via The Daily Record).

It has been reported that his agent Michael Gorman has travelled to Portugal to speak to FC Porto in regards to a transfer (via Glasgow Live).

The Latest: Bid rejected

Now, according to Andrade, Italian outfit Cagliari have had a bid rejected for the Colombia international.

They are said to have offered €8m (£6.9m) - a relatively low fee considering the 24-year-old is valued at £10.8m (Transfermarkt).

"Alfredo Morelos is an old desire of Sérgio Conceição at FC Porto," claims the journalist for UOL Esporte.

"Rangers hopes to sell the Colombian striker for approximately 12M € . 24-year-old goalscorer, who receives 1.2 M € clean per season, had recently declined an offer for 8M € from Cagliari."

The Verdict: Rangers and Morelos can do better

Steven Gerrard, who called the striker "outstanding" last year (via thefocus.news) will no doubt be resigned to losing Morelos at some point in the future.

After 94 goals in 182 games for the Gers, he has shown his worth, and he has displayed his ability to decide the outcome of matches. He has also not hidden his desire for a big move, saying he wants to play in a more prestigious league (Goal.com).

However, all involved can do better than this offer. Cagliari only finished 16th in the Italian top flight last term - Morelos has previously been linked to Champions League sides in Lille and AC Milan.

Also, the bid itself was nowhere near what the 55-time Scottish champions can surely demand. It remains to be seen whether Porto will be a more attractive proposition.
