According to The Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers are favourites to sign KV Oostende striker Fashion Sakala on a free transfer.
Gers in pole position to capture Sakala
In January, Zambia international Sakala admitted there were a number of clubs interested in his services, although he did say he would like a move to La Liga or the Premier League.
However, although there is plenty of competition to sign him, it seems the Gers are leading the race for his signature.
Sakala has been in fantastic form so far this term in Belgium. In 25 matches in all competitions, he has managed 13 goals, while he has also provided three assists (Transfermarkt). Oostende clearly want him to sign a new contract, but it seems the 23-year-old is eager to move on to bigger and better things.
Would you like to sign Sakala?
With Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten available to Steven Gerrard as attacking options this term, the Ibrox outfit have been outstanding – they currently top the Premiership table by 18 points with eight games left to play (BBC), while they lead Royal Antwerp 4-3 in their Europa League round of 32 tie.
However, Gerrard and co must plan for the future, and given the heavy interest in Morelos last summer (The Daily Record), the Colombia international could well look to move on.
Bringing Sakala in on a free could be a great coup for Ross Wilson.
