Rangers: Steven Gerrard could axe 3 players

The Daily Record have revealed that Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will consider moves away from Ibrox for Greg Stewart, Glenn Middleton and Jordan Jones in January.
Gerrard could swing axe
The Gers are currently unbeaten in 27 games in all competitions as they look for their first piece of major silverware since 2011. In search of success, it appears Gerrard could make some big decisions in regards to the players on the periphery of his first-team squad.
As such, it is being reported that Stewart, Middleton and Jones could all be moved on in January.
Different cases
In Jones’ case, it is hard to see how he has a future at Ibrox. At one point, it looked as though he may be involved in Gerrard’s plans after scoring in the 5-1 win over Motherwell. However, he then broke regulations along with George Edmundson, receiving a seven-game ban in the process. He broke his manager’s trust, and that is something Gerrard can do without.
Stewart is likely to be moved on permanently as well. At 30 years of age, he isn’t getting any younger, and he has appeared just four times this term. It is hard to see how he works his way back into the side.
Will these three players leave Ibrox in January?
Yes

No

For Middleton, though, a loan move would make sense. He is still just 20 years of age and has done well in the past at Ibrox, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 29 matches.
Scott Arfield previously said that the former Norwich man “scares people” with his running ability. In the long-term, that could be very useful to Gerrard.
In other news, this Gers man has been tipped for a move away from Ibrox next month.
