As per Football Insider, Jordan Jones is eager to complete a permanent move to Sunderland from Glasgow Rangers.
Jones wants permanent move
Jones moved to the Black Cats on loan during the January transfer window, and he so far been on fire for the Wearside outfit, scoring twice and providing four assists in 12 matches (Transfermarkt), leaving fans there in awe of his talent.
Now, a Rangers source tells Football Insider the 26-year-old wants to leave Ibrox permanently – hardly surprising given the way he has settled in at the Stadium of Light.
The right time
Unfortunately, Jones appears to have burnt his bridges with the 55-time Scottish champions. After attending a house party towards the end of 2020, he received a seven-game ban (BBC) which ultimately led to him leaving on a temporary basis. The Gers have not missed him, with them already having wrapped up the Premiership title.
Should Jordan Jones leave the club?
At Sunderland, he is enjoying himself, and Lee Johnson is getting some of his best football out of him. The north-east side could well earn promotion to the Championship this season, which may give Jones even more incentive to stay. Ross Wilson and co reportedly want £600,000 to part ways with the Northern Ireland international. Considering he was only signed on a free transfer (Belfast Live), that would represent a significant profit for Rangers.
In other news, Rangers fans disagree with these Steven Gerrard comments.
