According to Robin Barnier, Glasgow Rangers youngster Nathan Young-Coombes is set to join Brentford permanently from the Ibrox outfit.
Young-Coombes set for Bees move
Young-Coombes moved to the Gers in February 2019 from Chelsea in the hope that he would receive more playing time. However, he has not played a single minute for Steven Gerrard’s first-team (Transfermarkt).
As such, he is set to move back to London to join up with the Championship outfit.
Gerrard has given opportunities to some younger players, with the likes of Leon King, Ciaran Dickson and Nathan Patterson all picking up first-team minutes. Given the Gers are going for a first major trophy in 10 years, though, Gerrard cannot afford to give too many inexperienced players time on the pitch.
As such, Young-Coombes has been confined to the youth team. At that level, though, he has impressed, scoring four goals in five games in the UEFA Youth League. Clearly, he has talent, but with the number of options at his disposal, Gerrard has overlooked him – and the 18-year-old isn’t happy to wait around for his chance.
Are you disappointed by this departure?
The teenager will be hoping a move back to more familiar surroundings could kickstart his professional career.
In other news, Rangers fans are far from happy with this author’s comments.
