Many Glasgow Rangers fans are livid after it was revealed that Nikola Katic has been told his career at the club is over.

The Gers enjoyed a magnificent 2020/21 campaign as they won the Premiership title for the first time in ten years, but unfortunately for Katic, he was unable to play a part in his team's success. He picked up a serious injury in pre-season (BBC) and was therefore unavailable for the entire campaign (Transfermarkt).

He has since returned to the fold, playing in a match for Rangers' reserves in the Challenge Cup, but it seems that may not be enough to save his career at Ibrox. According to The Scottish Sun, the 24-year-old has been told he is surplus to requirements with the 55-time Scottish champions and can therefore leave the club.

The news has been doing the rounds on Twitter, and it is fair to say that many supporters are not too happy. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on this "frightening" development.

Let's see what these fans had to say about the Katic news

"If reports are correct Katic to leave Rangers. Football can be cruel. You give it all, get badly injured, fight back to fitness and hasta la vista"

"gutted to read about big Katic on his way outta Ibrox. Yes he's had some dodgy moment in a Rangers shirt but at the same age I still firmly believe he is a much better player than Simpson and more suited to the Scottish game than Simpson will ever be. Will we get back what we paid?"

"A fit Katic is much better than Balogun and Simpson who both make me very nervous. Better prospect. I thought we were a selling club, get rough diamonds and polish them. Balogun has no value. Simpson is not good enough for Rangers. Disgusted"

"Probably most people going to disagree with me here. Selling Katic cause he been injured, replacing him with Simpson. But Ryan Jack been injured on & off since he him to us. So why he not getting sold??? Rangers jumping gun selling Katic, give big chap a chance."
