They are not the only club interested in his services, though, with Premier League side Arsenal also said to be in pursuit ([Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9681587/Millwall-reject-Swansea-approach-England-Arsenal-Rangers-target-Abdul-Abdulmalik.html)).

### **The Latest: McLeish urges Gers to sign Abdulmalik**

Speaking to [Ibrox News](https://www.ibroxnews.com/2021/06/20/alex-mcleish-thrilled-by-rangers-links-with-abdul-abdulmalik/), McLeish – who [won a plethora of trophies](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-mcleish/erfolge/trainer/645) during his time in charge of the club – has urged the Gers to sign the teenager. He said:

> *“The boys that have grown up in your academy, you don’t see too many of them.*
>
> *“The network of scouts, they must know there are special youngsters out there, and that’s a possibility with this Millwall kid.*
>
> *“It could be a great coup, we have seen over the past few years some young players moving and moving for big money.”*

### **The Verdict: Could be a coup**

While Abdulmalik is yet to make his senior bow, he has impressed at youth level. In the 2019/20 FA Youth Cup, he scored [four](https://www.transfermarkt.com/abdul-abdulmalik/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/741239) times in four matches, and Millwall manager Gary Rowett has publicly stated that he wants the youngster to stay at the club, believing that he has a “good future” ([londonnewsonline.co.uk](https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/millwall-boss-spells-out-situation-with-swansea-city-target-abdul-abdulmalik/)).

Despite a lack of Champions League football in recent years, Arsenal are one of English football’s biggest clubs and they should be a top proposition for any youngster given the [trust which has been placed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-arsenal/leistungsdaten/verein/11) in some of their brightest young talents like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe. It would come as a particularly huge coup for the Gers if they could beat the Gunners to his signature.
