# Rangers: Gers fear losing Borna Barisic

**[According to Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-fear-losing-their-tar-defenders/), Glasgow Rangers fear losing Borna Barisic to a Premier League club this year.**

### **Gers scared of losing Barisic**

Barisic was reportedly the subject of interest from Leeds United last summer, with the Whites believed to have had a bid of [£8.1m rejected](https://sportske.jutarnji.hr/sn/nogomet/hnl/stigla-je-i-potvrda-za-gvardiola-nudi-cak-20-milijuna-eura-i-zeli-od-njega-napraviti-svjetskog-igraca-15016469) for the Croatia international.

In the end, he stayed put at Ibrox, but the 54-time Scottish champions are now wary that he could leave in 2021 after another impressive campaign.

### **Huge blow**

Barisic’s performances may at times go under the radar, but he is one of Steven Gerrard’s most important players. So far this season, he has missed just [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/borna-barisic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/39125) games in all competitions, while he has already contributed [10 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/borna-barisic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/39125). That follows on from him creating [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/borna-barisic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/39125) strikes during the 2019/20 season.

Steven Gerrard has previously praised Barisic’s [‘magic’](https://www.the42.ie/st-mirren-v-rangers-4781749-Aug2019/), and he will know the 28-year-old is a player that he cannot afford to lose this season. With the Gers now [19](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/scottish-premiership/table) points clear at the top of the Premiership, a first title since 2011 is within touching distance – once that is achieved, the likes of Barisic may be open to departing. After all, there may be little more for him to achieve in Scotland following such a success.

His potential exit is unlikely to be a big topic during this transfer window, but don’t be surprised to see it be a hot topic at the end of the season.
