# Rangers: Chris Sutton hammers Gers squad after Morelos development

**BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has hammered the behaviour of Glasgow Rangers’ players after Alfredo Morelos was charged for his alleged stamp against Hibernian.**

### **Sutton slams Gers**

Morelos found himself in another spot of bother against Hibernian on Wednesday, with him lucky not be sent off for seemingly stamping on Ryan Porteous – he has since been charged by the Scottish FA for the incident ([BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55862861)).

He explained:

> *“The standard of refereeing is appalling. They are possibly the worst group of referees in the world.*

> *“How long is Morelos going to get away with this? I think that Rangers and Morelos intimidate referees, they frighten referees.*

> *“Referees are scared to make a decision on him and pull out the red card. There have been four occasions this season where Morelos could’ve and should’ve been sent off.*
>
> *“He’s an accident waiting to happen.”*

### **A bit too far**

It is hard to jump to the defence of Morelos. After slapping Scott Brown on the back of the head in the first Old Firm derby of the season ([SportBible](https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-alfredo-morelos-slaps-scott-brown-on-the-back-of-the-head-20201017#:~:text=Alfredo%20Morelos%20slapped%20Scott%20Brown,Firm%20derby%20of%20the%20season.&text=The%20Rangers%20striker%20and%20the,before%20half%2Dtime%20on%20Saturday.)) and elbowing Dundee United’s Mark Connolly – an act for which he received a two-game ban ([The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9056581/Alfredo-Morelos-yellow-card-upgraded-two-game-ban.html)) – this latest showing of indiscipline is nothing out of the ordinary for the Colombia international.

However, it would be wrong to suggest that a lack of discipline is a squad-wide problem. The Gers have not picked up a single red card in all competitions, including in nine European matches ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rangers-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/124/reldata/%262020/plus/1)), and they have conducted themselves well on the whole. Morelos is really the only one who cannot control himself – the rest of the group should not be blamed for his actions.
