# Rangers: Club 1872 set for £2.5m investment

**Glasgow Rangers are set for a £2.5m investment from Club 1872 as the club looks for funds as the financial crunch tightens.**

### **Gers set for investment**

The Ibrox outfit have already sold a number of shares in recent weeks and months as they look to raise funds, and it now seems they are set for a further cash injection.

Supporters group Club 1872, who are already set to purchase the shares of Dave King in the club ([The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dave-king-sell-rangers-shares-23099300)), are to raise £2.5m in what was described as “much-needed” money ([The Scotsman](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/rangers/rangers-supporters-group-club-1872-plan-ps25m-cash-injection-3127305)).

### **Influence is growing**

There is no doubt that the influence of the supporters is growing at Ibrox. As previously mentioned, Club 1872 will become major shareholders in the future – when that deal with King is complete, they will own roughly [25%](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dave-king-sell-rangers-shares-23099300) of the 54-time Scottish champions.

In October of last year, Stuart Gibson paid £5m for a stake in the club ([The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6141452/rangers-shares-gibson-investment-king-park/)), while a [further £4m](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6235488/rangers-fc-news-issue-shares-funds/) in shares were floated in November.

Money is at least coming into the club during what is a difficult financial time for almost all outfits due to the coronavirus pandemic. More money and more influence in how the Gers work – the fans could hardly ask for much more.
