# Rangers: Connor Goldson leads the way in Europe

**[The Scotsman have revealed](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/rangers/why-connor-goldson-stands-tallest-season-rangers-and-holds-european-record-3107076) that Glasgow Rangers defender Connor Goldson has played more minutes this season than any other player in Europe.**

### **Goldson leading the way in Europe**

This has been a long season for the Gers, who have already played 35 games in all competitions ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glasgow-rangers/spielplan/verein/124)).

Goldson, though, has been an ever-present for Steven Gerrard’s side, completing every single match from start to finish – that equals [3,150](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-goldson/leistungsdaten/spieler/163656) minutes of action, more than any other player across the continent.

### **Gerrard’s Mr. Reliable**

It is difficult to explain how important Goldson has been to the Ibrox outfit so far this campaign. Gerrard has had some problems in regards to the availability of his centre-backs – Leon Balogun ([The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leon-balogun-injury-update-rangers-23187003)), Filip Helander ([Glasgow Live](https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/filip-helander-covid-blow-rangers-19368257)) and [Nikola Katic](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nikola-katic/verletzungen/spieler/422051) have all spent parts of the season on the sidelines, while George Edmundson picked up a seven-game ban for breaking lockdown regulations ([BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55004563#:~:text=Scottish%20Football-,Rangers%3A%20Jordan%20Jones%20and%20George%20Edmundson%20banned,seven%20games%20for%20Covid%20breaches&text=Rangers%20say%20they%20accept%20the,for%20Covid%2D19%20related%20breaches.&text=The%20pair%20learned%20their%20punishment%20at%20an%20SFA%20hearing%20on%20Thursday.)).

Through all of that, though, the Gers have been able to rely on the [£4.95m-valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-goldson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/163656) former Brighton defender. Earlier this season, the boss said Goldson is in a [“fantastic place”](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/rangers/why-connor-goldson-stands-tallest-season-rangers-and-holds-european-record-3107076), and it is hard to disagree. As we approach the business end of the campaign, Gerrard will know that his centre-back is a player he can continue to count on.
