# Rangers: Windass questions John Lundstram link

**Former Premier League man Dean Windass does not understand the links between John Lundstram at Sheffield United and Glasgow Rangers.**

### **Windass baffled by Lundstram link**

The Gers have been [linked](https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko/status/1302514207187972096) with the 26-year-old since last year, with Lundstram [turning down](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/54731596#:~:text=Sheffield%20United%20manager%20Chris%20Wilder,Premier%20League%20games%20this%20season.) a new contract at Bramall Lane. As such, he will be [available on a free transfer](https://www.transfermarkt.com/john-lundstram/profil/spieler/156941) in the summer.

Speaking to [Football FanCast](https://www.footballfancast.com/rangers-news/gers-transfer-rumours-steven-gerrard-target-free-john-lundstram-sheffield-utd-news-scottish-premiership-gossip), Windass appeared perplexed by the speculation. He [said](https://www.footballfancast.com/rangers-news/gers-transfer-rumours-steven-gerrard-target-free-john-lundstram-sheffield-utd-news-scottish-premiership-gossip):

> *“That’s not for me. I don’t get it. I don’t get it at all.*
>
> *“I’m not being rude, people probably said I was a bad player, it’s just my opinion.*
>
> *“But I don’t get that. I don’t understand why he’s not staying, maybe he thinks he’s better than Sheffield United.*
>
> *“Does he want more money? Maybe they just think he’s only worth so much.”*

### **Change of scenery**

Lundstram impressed last season with the Blades in the Premier League. He scored [five](https://www.transfermarkt.com/john-lundstram/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/156941) times in 34 appearances in all competitions, and was even called a [“fantastic example”](https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/sheffield-united-player-chris-wilder-describes-fantastic-example-professional-footballer-2440946) by Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder thanks to his behaviour and attitude at the club.

Currently earning just [£4,000 a week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/sheffield-united-fc/payroll/) with the Yorkshire outfit, one of the reasons for leaving is likely to be an increased pay package. A change of scenery, too, would make sense, especially as his current club look like they will be relegated to the Championship after [failing to win any](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) of their first 17 games in the Premier League this term. Rangers could offer him a new start and an increased chance of success, and would also be able to give him more than what he is currently earning. All in all, it is a link that makes sense.
