# Rangers: Gers could offload George Edmundson and Filip Helander

**According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-rangers-planning-to-offload-two-senior-defenders-this-summer/), Glasgow Rangers could receive a £7m windfall as both George Edmundson and Filip Helander are being linked with moves away from the club this summer.**

### **Rangers to make windfall**

Edmundson made the move to Derby County [on loan](https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2021/02/rangers-defender-edmundson-joins-derby-on-loan) in the winter transfer window, while Helander has recently been linked with a switch to either Aston Villa or Leicester ([Aftonbladet](https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/fotboll/a/R90KO2/avslojar-landslagsmittbacken-jagas-av-premier-league-klubbar)).

This latest report suggests that both could leave permanently in the summer. The 55-time Scottish champions are believed to be looking for [£6m](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-want-6m-for-senior-star-targeted-by-premier-league-sides/) for Helander, while Edmundson would cost around [£1m](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-rangers-planning-to-offload-two-senior-defenders-this-summer/).

### **Debatable**

In Edmundson’s case, it would certainly make sense if he were to be sold. He made just two appearances for the Gers in the first half of the season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/george-edmundson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/385848)) before receiving a seven-game ban for breaking lockdown regulations ([BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55004563#:~:text=Scottish%20Football-,Rangers%3A%20Jordan%20Jones%20and%20George%20Edmundson%20banned,seven%20games%20for%20Covid%20breaches&text=Rangers%20say%20they%20accept%20the,for%20Covid%2D19%20related%20breaches.&text=The%20pair%20learned%20their%20punishment%20at%20an%20SFA%20hearing%20on%20Thursday.)). It seems that he has no future at Ibrox.

Helander, though, has proven to be an important player for Steven Gerrard. Incredibly, since moving to Ibrox in 2019, he is [yet to lose a Premiership match](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-helander/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/198067) in which he has been involved. He has grown into one of the most reliable players in the team and, as they prepare for a potential Champions League run next term, it would be a shame to lose a player of his quality.
