# Rangers: Steven Gerrard makes transfer plea

**Steven Gerrard says that Glasgow Rangers cannot afford to lose any of their star players in the coming months.**

### **Gerrard makes transfer plea**

In recent weeks and months, a number of Gers players including [James Tavernier](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9027619/What-does-James-Tavernier-need-recognised-Premier-League.html) and [Glen Kamara](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-gerrard-fears-glen-kamara-rangers-exit-leeds-checks) have been linked with moves away from Ibrox.

With this being a huge campaign for the 54-time Scottish champions – they are looking for a first piece of major silverware since 2011 – Gerrard knows he cannot afford to lose any of his best performers. He [said](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/rangers-transfer-latest-steven-gerrard-23152831) when talking about the future of Kamara:

> *“Everyone is working ever so hard to move the team forward.*
>
> *“The last thing we need now is to lose a big part of that jigsaw.*
>
> *“Glen has been absolutely sensational since he came in and it’s not just about what you’ve got left on your contract, it’s about what you deserve.*
>
> *“It’s about protecting yourself from the future and what could possibly happen.*
>
> *“Glen is happy, he’s enjoying his football, he’s happy here. For me it’s the right thing to do.\*

### **Vital**

Gerrard makes a very good point – at the moment, keeping hold of their star players is of paramount importance to the Gers. There will be a time when the interest in Tavernier, Kamara and co will be too strong, but at the moment there is no reason for them to leave.

Unbeaten in [26](https://www.skysports.com/rangers-results) matches, top of the Premiership and still in the Scottish League Cup and the Europa League, this promises to be a fantastic term for the Gers. Now, it is about seeing the job through. Hopefully, the Kamara situation will be sorted as soon as possible.
