# Rangers: Gers urged to hold on to Ianis Hagi

**Former Glasgow Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has urged the Gers not to sell Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi as he has the potential to become a club legend.**

### **Gers should keep Hagi**

It was a difficult start to the campaign for Hagi, with him [coming under criticism from the Ibrox outfit’s supporters](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/glasgow-rangers-fans-slam-hagi/), but he has gradually settled in at his new club.

[Speaking to Pro Sport](https://www.prosport.ro/fotbal-intern/liga-1/kyle-lafferty-starul-irlandei-de-nord-dupa-ce-a-refuzat-oferta-de-la-sepsi-era-un-proiect-ambitios-pacat-ca-nu-ne-am-inteles-declaratie-fabuloasa-despre-ianis-hagi-exclusiv-19202200), Lafferty believes the Gers should resist all temptation to sell the 22-year-old. He said:

> *“When you play for a big team like Rangers, the pressure is huge. Fans expect you to give it your all on the field whether you play Celtic or a relegation team.*
>
> *“I saw quality in Ianis Hagi. He had some problems at one point with an injury, but now things have settled down I can say he’s fantastic!*
>
> *“He is a player who will mark the history of Rangers in the coming years and if he’s not transferred to another team, he has the potential to become a club legend.”*

### **Hagi has a big future**

So far this campaign, Hagi has grown in stature. He has managed five goals and a very impressive 11 assists in all competitions and has started five of the last six matches in the Premiership ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ianis-hagi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/282076)).

With that in mind, it seems Steven Gerrard now sees him as an important part of his squad.

Hagi is a valuable asset to the 54-time Scottish champions. With Champions League experience to his name and being the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi, he can be both marketable as well as a very good player on the pitch.

Currently valued at £5.4m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ianis-hagi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/282076)), the attacker has a big future ahead of him.
