# Rangers: Robinson urges John Lundstram to consider Gers move

**Pundit Paul Robinson has urged John Lundstram to consider a move to Glasgow Rangers despite a report suggesting he has turned down a move to Ibrox**

### **Lundstram should remain open to Gers**

The Gers have been heavily linked with a move for the Sheffield United man, whose contract with the Blades runs out at the end of this season, but [Football Insider revealed](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-big-update-on-rangers-bid-to-sign-lundstram/) that £7.2m-valued 26-year-old ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-lundstram/marktwertverlauf/spieler/156941)) has no plans to move to Ibrox.

Speaking to the same outlet, former England goalkeeper Robinson believes Lundstram should remain open to a switch to Glasgow. He [said](https://www.footballinsider247.com/robinson-i-thought-lundstram-was-joining-rangers-im-surprised-its-not-yet-done/):

> *“Lundstram needs to be playing at a high level week in, week out if he wants to get a big move at the end of the season,”*
>
> *“It is difficult when you run your contract down if you have not got something sorted out. A lot of players in his position will already know the club they are joining next season, speaking from experience and to other players.*
>
> *“If he is still trying to impress clubs at this stage he is running the risk of losing form, being dropped from the team or suffering an injury. That is always a big risk to take.*
>
> *“I am surprised that the Rangers one has not materialised, I thought it was going to come to fruition. He would a great signing for Rangers given the way Steven plays.*
>
> *“Lundstram needs to play things very carefully.”*

### **Eye on the Premier League**

Rangers are certainly a more attractive proposition than they have been in recent years. As it stands, they are 18 points clear at the top of the Premiership with ten games to play ([BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/scottish-premiership/table)) and have lost just one game in all competitions this season ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/rangers-results)).

Their recent form in Europe has been impressive – they made the Europa League Round of 16 last term and are unbeaten in this campaign’s competition as they await a round of 32 tie against Royal Antwerp – and they could well be competing in the Champions League next time around.

Despite all of that, though, the Premier League is still a far greater pull for Lundstram – unfortunately for the Gers, they cannot compete with the wages and the competitiveness of the English top flight. It remains to be seen whether the Liverpudlian has a change of heart, but don’t count on it.
