# Rangers: Gers set to ramp up John Lundstram interest

**As per [The Star](https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/interest-in-rangers-burnley-target-john-lundstram-expected-to-increase-when-midfielders-sheffield-united-contract-officially-expires-3286679), Glasgow Rangers are set to ramp up their interest in out-of-contract midfielder John Lundstram next week.**

### **The Lowdown: Gers eye Lundstram**

Rangers have been linked with the 27-year-old for a number of months as they look to prepare their squad for the next campaign ([Glasgow Live](https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-john-lundstram-boost-sheffield-19474266)).

Lundstram is soon to officially become a free agent after leaving Sheffield United at the end of his contract ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-lundstram/profil/spieler/156941)).

### **The Latest: Gers to step up interest in Lundstram**

It is being reported that the Gers are to step up their interest in the Blades’ Lundstram, according to [The Star](https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/interest-in-rangers-burnley-target-john-lundstram-expected-to-increase-when-midfielders-sheffield-united-contract-officially-expires-3286679).

Burnley and Crystal Palace are believed to be the two other clubs interested in the 27-year-old’s services.

### **The Verdict: Worth fighting for**

Sheffield United may have been relegated from the Premier League last season, but Lundstram has impressed over the past two campaigns. He has racked up [62](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-lundstram/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/156941) top-flight appearances and, during the 2019/20 term he scored [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-lundstram/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/156941) goals and provided three assists as the Blades finished in the top half. Billy Sharp even called him a [“real menace”](https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/sheffield-united-player-skipper-billy-sharp-describes-real-menace-other-teams-2442502) during that campaign.

Now a free agent, he could end up being a bargain for Ross Wilson and co. He is still only 27, and at a value of £6.3m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-lundstram/marktwertverlauf/spieler/156941),) they would clearly be signing him for a snip – obviously the wages would need to be taken into account (he earned [£25,000 per week](https://salarysport.com/football/player/john-lundstram/) last term; only two Gers players were [better paid](https://salarysport.com/football/scottish-premiership/rangers/)). This could prove to be a fantastic signing if the Gers can beat their competitors to his signature.
