# Rangers: Jordan Jones tipped to be sold

**Noel Whelan has tipped Steven Gerrard to sell Glasgow Rangers forward Jordan Jones after he recently broke the manager’s trust.**

### **Jones has not future at Ibrox**

After he scored against Motherwell in a 5-1 victory, it looked as though the 26-year-old may have a future at Ibrox – he was even called [a “real weapon”](https://play.acast.com/s/recordrangers/vnid%3A%2F%2Fepisodes%2F41208810%3Fmedia_id%3D30422836) for the club by journalist Scott McDermott. However, after the game against Kilmarnock – for which he was not included in the squad – Jones attended a house gathering along with teammate George Edmundson.

By doing so, they broke coronavirus regulations, with the club [launching an investigation](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rangers-coronavirus-gerrard-jones-edmondson-22944180) into the pair. In they end, they were banned for [seven](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55004563#:~:text=Scottish%20Football-,Rangers%3A%20Jordan%20Jones%20and%20George%20Edmundson%20banned,seven%20games%20for%20Covid%20breaches&text=Rangers%20say%20they%20accept%20the,for%20Covid%2D19%20related%20breaches.&text=The%20pair%20learned%20their%20punishment%20at%20an%20SFA%20hearing%20on%20Thursday.) games by the SFA.

This could have had huge implications for the Gers, and Whelan believes that Jones’ actions will see him move on from the 54-time Scottish champions. He [told Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/he-wont-play-for-rangers-again-exclusive-gerrard-told-to-bin-ibrox-man-for-good/):

> *“He won’t play for Rangers again. I just don’t see it.*
>
> *“He wasn’t in the team much anyway, so he wasn’t doing enough in training and behind the scenes to convince Steven Gerrard.*
>
> *“Now, he’s broken the rules and broken the trust of his manager, there’s surely no way back for him at Rangers.*
>
> *“They are doing brilliantly, and the last thing you need is someone upsetting the dressing room and putting themselves first in such a huge season.*
>
> *“The biggest word in any job, in any relationship between manager and player is trust. If you break that trust then it’s going to be very difficult to rebuild.*
>
> *“Steven will be offloading him, he won’t want people with that kind of character.”*

### **Little chance of reprieve**

Jones was [reportedly](https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/incoming/jordan-jones-told-he-can-leave-rangers-as-northern-ireland-winger-seeks-games-ahead-of-euro-play-offs-39476331.html) told he could leave the club during the transfer window, so for him to work his way back into Gerrard’s plans shows a certain amount of determination and dedication. Why he would decide to throw it away by attending a party is anyone’s guess.

Even before this error in judgement, Jones was still on the periphery of the starting XI – he has played just [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-jones/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/249256) games in all competitions this campaign. Given that the Gers have now gone [22](https://www.skysports.com/rangers-results) games unbeaten in all competitions this term, it is hard to see how he will find his way back into the squad.
