# Rangers: Scott Wright compared to Ryan Kent

**Former Aberdeen youngster Frank Ross has compared Glasgow Rangers target Scott Wright to current Gers star Ryan Kent.**

### **Wright compared to Kent**

Wright has been linked with a move to Ibrox ([BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55674975)), with Dons manager Derek McInnes even admitting that the Gers have been in touch over a move ([via The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/scott-wright-rangers-transfer-update-23331461)).

Ross believes that Kent is comparable to the current Gers winger. He said ([via The Evening Express](https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/sport/football/aberdeen-fc/donsnews/frank-ross-scott-wright-aberdeen/)):

> *“He’s such a good player. I don’t think a lot of people have seen how good he is. On his day, he can just beat people and score.*
>
> *“He reminds me of Ryan Kent, with the explosiveness he has. He can go in to Rangers and be one of their better players.*
>
> *“Being a local boy from Balmedie, me and him used to drive in (to training) together and roomed together with Scotland. He’s such a nice lad, so he deserves it.*
>
> *“We grew quite close, so it’s really good to see he’s playing up to his potential. I’m so happy for him.”*

### **Plenty to do**

Having been a teammate of the 23-year-old, Ross was always going to be positive in his appraisal of Wright. And clearly, he has plenty of ability, otherwise the 54-time Scottish champions would not be interested in signing him.

However, comparing him to £7.2m-valued Kent ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/marktwertverlauf/spieler/279457)) seems to be a little too much. During his career at Pittodrie, Wright has [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-wright/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/276914) goals and 11 assists in 76 games. He did have a positive spell at Dundee, where he managed [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-wright/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/276914) strikes and four assists in 13 matches, but he is yet to net more than three times in a single league campaign.

Kent’s end product, meanwhile, has come in for plenty of scrutiny in the past (The Daily Mail [via The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/brian-laudrup-delivers-verdict-rangers-22464843)), but he has still scored [20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/279457) and created 24 in 109 matches for the Gers. To be compared to the former Liverpool youngster, who was recently called “fantastic” by former Rangers boss Alex McLeish ([Ibrox News](https://www.ibroxnews.com/2021/01/17/exclusive-mcleish-hails-fantastic-rangers-ace-despite-0-dribble-success-v-motherwell/)), Wright must contribute more in the final third.
