# Rangers: Fans slam SFA’s Andrew Phillips appointment

**Glasgow Rangers are far from happy after the Scottish FA confirmed that Andrew Phillips will take over as the organisation’s new compliance officer.**

As the Gers sit top of the Premiership by 15 points ([BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/scottish-premiership/table)), it is fair to say it has been a fantastic campaign for the Gers so far. However, that does not mean they have not had their problems with the SFA this term – both [Alfredo Morelos](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55892793#:~:text=Rangers%3A%20Alfredo%20Morelos%20given%20three%2Dgame%20ban%20for%20Hibs%20stamp,-By%20Scott%20Mullen&text=The%20striker%20was%20charged%20by,accepted%20the%20notice%20of%20complaint.) and [Kemar Roofe](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/56016388#:~:text=Rangers%20forward%20Kemar%20Roofe%20has,his%20serious%20foul%20play%20charge.&text=Rangers%20contested%20the%20subsequent%20notice,against%20Kilmarnock%20and%20Dundee%20United.) has received bans for challenges made during games, while Jordan Jones and George Edmundson picked up [seven-game suspensions](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55004563#:~:text=Scottish%20Football-,Rangers%3A%20Jordan%20Jones%20and%20George%20Edmundson%20banned,seven%20games%20for%20Covid%20breaches&text=Rangers%20say%20they%20accept%20the,for%20Covid%2D19%20related%20breaches.&text=The%20pair%20learned%20their%20punishment%20at%20an%20SFA%20hearing%20on%20Thursday.) for breaking coronavirus regulations towards the end of 2021.

Now, the authority have confirmed Phillips will take over the role previously held by Claire Whyte ([scottishfa.co.uk](https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/news/andrew-phillips-appointed-new-scottish-fa-compliance-officer/)). While little is known about Phillips, it appears he has little background in football – his appointment has therefore gone down like a lead balloon.

The fans took to social media platform Twitter to share their thoughts.

**“****The @ScottishFA** **are an absolute joke!!! I doubt this guy has had any football experience apart from being a fan of a club!!! You have basically appointed a fan to this position who does not know the game!!!”**
